Do you like to write?
Our featured writer this week is Kyle from third grade. He has submitted his writing to Skibbler’s ezine magazine. It should appear online later this spring. In the meantime, I would like to share his writing about a visit to the beach.

BEACH
The ocean is full of surprises. Here I am watching the waves with my family. Mom and me go in the waves. A wave comes and goes around our feet, and swallows a sand castle. The next wave comes to my stomach.
Uh-oh! This wave takes me under. It tosses me, and turns me, and spits me out. I have rocks in my suit. I get up but another wave pushes me down.
I go back in the waves and another wave takes me under so I decide to get out and play with my brother. We dig a hole 2 feet deep. It comes to my shoulders. I don’t go in the water for a long time. This hole is so deep that it goes to my brother’s face!
Later, I go back in the waves. Uh-oh, the waves are rough! The next wave is so big! “Ahh!” I say. Splash! Ow! I hit the bottom! I come out of the water, but suddenly another wave comes! I can’t swim away! Swish! “Help me!” I scream. Bam! I smacked the bottom of the ocean! A whale swims past me. I swim to the top which is a long way. I realize I feel land and I climb out. I am on a small island. I run into a foot tall man. He says the name of the island is Icozmicooz.
“What???” I said.
“I-coz-mi-cooz,” he said in a sterner voice.
“Okay, okay,” I said.
“What???” I thought, aloud. He grunted at me and pushed me in a wave. Ow! Ow! Before I know it, I’m back. “Ugh” I said. My mom is waiting for me.
“Hi” she says. I tell her what happened.
“Oh my silly little storyteller!” she said. “I love you.”
“Me too,” I said. “Me too.”
