Stink and the World’s Worst Super-Stinky Sneakers

January 30th, 2008

This is the latest book in the Stink series, featuring Judy Moody’s brother, Stink.  Stink is headed on a class trip to the science museum to visit the Everybody Stinks exhibit where his teacher dares him to smell things like toilet water, rotten eggs, skunk scent and more.  What follows is a stinky sneaker contest that Stink and his friends are sure to win… well, until a little mishap or two.  Head on down to the library to check it out!   The first student to check it out will get an original “Is Your Sniffer up to Snuff?” scratch and sniff bookmark!

Ten Ways to Make My Sister Disappear

January 30th, 2008

Ok, I know I shouldn’t judge a book by its cover or title, but this one caught my eye.  I started reading it this weekend to see if it lived up to what I thought would be a great girl book.  First, let me say more about cover.  ;)  The words in the title pop out under your fingers.
Ok, ok… the story….  I loved that it started out with snowflakes on the pages and on January 10th.  Perfect for this time of year.  Kind of sad though, Sprig (real name Grace), is a little frustrated with her older sister Dakota and Dad going to work for the government.   I love the part when Sprig brainstorms a list of ten ways her sister could disappear with her best friend, Bliss.  If you are reading this book, send in a comment telling me what you think.

No Talking!

January 30th, 2008

This new book by Andrew Clements was published in June of 2007, but has just arrived at Pashley Library.  This book is perfect for a fifth grade boy or girl.  The main characters are fifth graders who just can’t stop talking.  Well, that is until the boys challenge the girls to a no talking contest.  The teachers are baffled and the principal, who loves his red bullhorn, is very frustrated.  What is going on?!?
Head on down to the library to check it out!
